Ms. Kumie MANABE
First of all at this very moment when Clara Moon is born, I would love to express my gratitude from the deep of my heart to everyone for your understanding and help.
In 2020, I have been thinking if there is anything I can do as a business founder for the world in such a corona pandemic.
While nothing came to mind, I decided to pen down what my heart’s searching for. When I drew them in a sketchbook, I came up with mother-and-children, the moon, universe, and love. I have never felt it so strong, but I know I must create this little baby of mine…I’m convinced.
My family moved to Takamatsu when I was three. My parents ran a clinic that my mom did the anesthesia, and my dad was responsible for surgeries. They have got many cancer patients so at least one of them had to be on duty. Witnessing the final days of so many patients, you were like surrounded by a sense completion in terms of medical care but, at the same time, a sense of helplessness. So, life and death are like the unavoidable matters for me since I was small. We all have a start, and an end. Yet, nothing can stop us having hopes on new lives.
I am “made in USA, born in Japan”. I was raised in Florida, the US while I was born in Kyoto, Japan. What my mom saw, heard, and felt when I was in her body are still in running my blood.
We have ups and downs in life, and after the long labor pains called “experiences”, when my three children came to world, Clara came to me as my fourth child this time. The womb is the part of the mother’s body that embraces the baby, and the moon is also the symbol of mother. Clara feels safe and entrusts herself to the moon- she is a symbol of “dawn” in a glittering era transcending all sadness and suffering.
I would love to leave these kids with “the love of mother, deeper than the universe”. I wish the deep mother’s love could console everyone who come to see Clara and Ken. Sincerely, I wish you all will have everything in peace as soon as you can.
